A 21-year-old Survivor Greece contestant is in stable condition after losing part of his leg in a shocking spearfishing accident.
Survivor Greece has been pulled from airing on Skai TV after contestant Stavros Floros, a beekeeper hailing from Kavala, was âaccidentally struckâ by a boat during a spearfishing accident in the Dominican Republic, according to a statement from production company AcunMedya via Toronto Sun.
The incident occurred on Saona Island during a break in filming and âoutside the competitive process of the reality show.â Floros was âdiving without a surface marker buoy in an area frequented by tourist vesselsâ when he was struck by a boatâs propellers. The contestant sustained âsevere injuries to his legs⌠including a partial amputation of the left leg and significant trauma to the right ankle.â
The production company states Floros received âimmediateâ assistance and was transported to receive medical attention. âThe contestant remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition and is out of danger,â AcunMedya stated.

Local authorities are reportedly investigating the incident to âfully determineâ what happened.
Skai TV said in a statement Survivor Greece is suspended from airing until the incident is fully investigated.
The network also stated it will âcontribute in every possible way to his treatment, as well as to any hospitalization and rehabilitation care required.â
âAlthough the production of Survivor is carried out exclusively under the control and responsibility of Acun Medya, SKAI is closely monitoring the participantâs health condition.â
