Cain underwent a prostatectomy on Monday.
Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle made a heartbreaking confession tonight (Tuesday 12 May) following his prostatectomy. Cain underwent the operation to treat his aggressive prostate cancer on Monday, with it being deemed successful.
Tonight Moira came to visit Cain, just as he was told by the doctor he would be able to leave the hospital by the end of the day if he was able to walk.

When Moira left, Cain seemed anxious about his catheter, which he was fitted with following the operation. Later he asked to speak to the doctor alone who informed him that he would have the catheter for two weeks at least.
She also informed him that he may experience incontinence for a while after the catheter is removed. Cain then said he didn’t expect to be going home with the catheter and to need it for so long.
Cain was visited by Caleb but he angrily told him to leave. When Caleb tried to cheer him up, Cain said he wish he’d never had the operation and he didn’t want to go home in his current state.
Caleb tried to tell him he had people to look after him but Cain said he didn’t want looking after and he didn’t want people to know about his catheter, adding that he would rather have “taken his chances” with his cancer than have to live how he is now.

Later, when Moira came to take Cain home the doctor arrived to assess Cain’s walking but he struggled to stand up, telling her it was too painful.
When Moira asked him to try to get up again, Cain snapped at her saying he couldn’t, meaning he would be staying another night in the hospital.
Will Cain ever be able to face returning to the village again?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
