The Survivor Shock around Rizo Velovic is not just about where he finished — it’s about what the grueling game did to his body. After a brutal run across two seasons, the Survivor 50 alum is opening up about a weight loss transformation that has left plenty of viewers stunned.
Survivor 50 wrapped up with Aubry Bracco taking home the $2 million prize. Jonathan Young finished as runner-up, while Joe Hunter secured third place.
Rizo Velovic came up short in the Fire-Making Challenge, which placed him in fourth. Notably, it marked the second straight season he was eliminated after losing a fire-making showdown.
While Aubry’s victory and Jonathan’s comments about what he described as a “bitter jury” drew plenty of attention, Rizo’s own remarks added another layer of drama to the finale conversation.
Rizo had already endured Survivor 49 and then returned for Survivor 50 with barely any recovery time — just nine days between seasons. That kind of turnaround took a serious toll, and his update may surprise fans who still think the newer seasons aren’t as punishing as the show’s old-school era.

“I lost like 25 pounds on Season 49, and I gained maybe two of it back,” Rizo after the live Season 50 finale.
That is a major drop in a very short period, and it highlights just how hard Season 49 hit him before he even stepped back into the game for Season 50.
“So, I went into 50 a shell of myself,” Rizo added. “And the fact that I’m even here in the end after losing 25 pounds I feel like is a pretty big feat.”
He also revealed that he started Season 49 at 174 pounds and weighed 128 pounds when he was eliminated from Season 50. Altogether, that means Rizo was down a staggering 46 pounds across the two seasons.
The good news? It sounds like he has bounced back well since returning home.
“I feel good, I feel healthy. Every person’s different. I got everything back to normality four or five months in from filming. Granted I still can’t do puzzles,” he joked, “but in terms of normal, everyday life, I feel like a million bucks.”
