That twist involved late-night host Jimmy Fallon, and it fell flat for many fans.

During the episode, someone had to volunteer to go on a Journey.

Four players tried to be sent, but ended up playing a game (Rock Paper Scissors) to determine who would go. Christian won.

I Deserve All of This
“I Deserve All of This” – After losing two alliance members, castaways spend the next day picking up the pieces of their broken alliance. The castaways face off against a surprise challenger during this week’s individual immunity competition. Then, upon their return to camp, the journey participant must read aloud an important announcement regarding their recent adventure, on SURVIVOR 50. A boat took Christian to a floating barge where he had to complete a puzzle in a short timespan.

A letter from Jimmy Fallon explained that completing the puzzle on time would earn him an extra vote for Tribal Council, but failing to complete it would have consequences.

Christian came up just short of finishing the puzzle and had to take a letter back to camp to read in front of everyone.

The letter stated that Christian would have to vote for himself at the upcoming Tribal Council. It was a critical blow to his gameplay, making it difficult to survive the night.

Six people voted to eliminate Christian (three voted for Rick Devens and two for Ozzy Lusth). It ended Christian’s time on Survivor.

We will see him again on the jury, though.

Survivor fans upset at ‘unfair’ twist

Many Survivor fans have turned to social media to share their opinions about the Jimmy Fallon twist. They aren’t happy with the producers or the late-night host.

“This should never have been able to happen. Christian is rightfully p****d here. Kudos to him for being able to cracks jokes but damn #Survivor #Survivor50,” one fan wrote.

“Losing Christian at the F11 is just disastrous. Way, way too soon. That Jimmy Fallon advantage was far too lopsided as well. Not much of an advantage if you won, but a huge disadvantage if you lost. Bummer. #Survivor50,” wrote another viewer.

“Jimmy Fallon screwed over Christian, poor guy, I thought he had a chance to win. #Survivor50 #Survivor,” another viewer posted.

“CHRISTIAN WAS ALREADY GONNA GET VOTED OUT BUT THAT JIMMY FALLON TWIST TOOK AWAY HIS ABILITY TO FLIP THE VOTE #Survivor50,” admitted someone else.

This wasn’t your everyday lose-a-vote disadvantage. This was a fatal twist that may have cost a good player his spot in the game. Smart players like Rizo Velovic were quick to jump on the opportunity to vote out a strategic threat when the opportunity presented itself.

No one knows how the vote might have unfolded if it weren’t for Christian having to vote for himself and that being public knowledge. He may have gone home anyway.

The point here is that no one in Survivor should ever have to write their name down on that parchment. It goes against everything the game stands for, and it was a terrible twist. It was credited to superfan Jimmy Fallon, but who knows if he thought of that himself? It should have been vetoed by Probst or whoever else makes those decisions.

The celebrity fan element to this season has been too bad, though it was totally unnecessary and a bit of a distraction at times. This instance, however, was brutally terrible, and Christian had every right to be angry. Shame on Survivor for letting this go down the way it did.
