The obituary says Matthew Brokaw died at 50 years old on December 27, 2025. It described his passing as the result of “a courageous battle with Esophageal and Gastric cancer.”

The tribute remembered him as “a devoted husband, proud father, and loyal friend,” a description that has only amplified the emotional reaction to the news.

Matthew also built a respected career in sports management, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. For 25 years, he worked with the Wichita Thunder Hockey Team in Kansas, earning admiration from colleagues and the community around him.

The obituary added that his “great joy in life was being a dad,” noting that he never missed an opportunity to support, encourage, and celebrate his children.
